Giving life to Gatsby's print edition
After promoting The Great Gatsby in New York and Cannes, Baz Luhrmann looked tired launching the movie in Australia this week. And while he ''could not be happier'' with how the movie has opened around the world, the director admits to being particularly proud of one achievement. While F. Scott Fitzgerald is now regarded as a great author, he was so ignored in the years before his death in 1940 that he would buy copies of his own books just to have a few sales. Luhrmann says that in the week the movie opened in the US, The Great Gatsby sold more copies than in Fitzgerald's entire lifetime.
