Heavy horses at the Show

24 Jan, 2012 02:01 PM
THE HEAVY horse section of the Crookwell Show will be conducted on Saturday February 11, commencing at 9.00am.

Leicester Dewsbury of Quialigo will be judging this year and has had 30 years experience judging around NSW, Queensland and Victoria.

He has judged at prestigious events, Canberra Royal, Gattan heavy horse spectacular (Queensland), “barrastock” heavy horse section (Victoria) and many country shows throughout the three states.

Leicester has had success as an exhibitor as well with his horses Toby and Houdini, both light delivery horses.

Toby (a Clydesdale-thoroughbred cross) has won the Sydney royal’s breaking-in gig class on four separate occasions.

Houdini (a Clydesdale-cob cross) has won the champion delivery horse at both Melbourne royal show and the “barrastock” heavy horse spectacular.

Light delivery horses are mostly Clydesdale crosses, because of their ability to trot along all day, pulling a light load such as bread or milk delivery carts.
