ON Friday, October 1, Kirob Merino Stud will be holding our first annual on property sale.
The sale format will be open cry auction and be conducted by Australian Wool Network and Landmark.
There will be approximately 30 rams offered for sale. All rams offered will be a mixture of Wallaloo Park and
Nerstane bloodlines.
Kirob Stud was founded on a Koonwarra base of ewes. This is the Koonwarra Stud that was owned and operated by John Williams of Laggan. Kirob was registered with the NSW Stud Merino Breeders Association in 2004 (flock no. 5008).
There was a purchase of a draft of CFA stud ewes from the Nerstane stud in 2004 and a subsequent purchase of the same type of ewes in 2006.
In 2007 three sires were bought from Wallaloo Park stud. These are large framed, early maturing, 19 to 21 micron sheep.
In 2008 and 2009 sires were added from Nerstane.
The wool is long and well defined. The offspring from the Wallalloo, Nerstane cross would be described as early maturing, fine-medium merinos, producing long, bright, well defined wool on a large frame.
At the last shearing in December, the flock and stud ewes averaged seven kilograms per head at 18.5 micron.
The sale will be held in the garden at Thalaba Downs. Refreshments will be on hand. We would welcome your attendance and inspection.
Inspection will be at 11am, with the sale to commence at 1pm. The catalogue can be viewed online at www.stft.com.au
