Local focus on Rotary Swap Meet

08 Sep, 2010 04:37 PM
A WIDER range of attractions, including a greater emphasis on local produce and products, will be a feature of this year’s Rotary Swap Meet and Market.

The Swap Meet will be held on Sunday, October 24, at the Crookwell Showground.

It has proved a popular event over the past seven years, and has provided a major input to Rotary’s local community projects.

This year, a third of the profits will go towards the Crookwell Men’s Shed project to build their own headquarters. Any local businesses, organisations or individuals interested in joining in the Swap Meet should contact Rotary secretary Ken Reedy (02 4832 2153) or Andrew Warren at Crookwell Information Centre (02 4832 1988).

Mr. Reedy said yesterday that requests for stall bookings were already coming in, and he expected the usual wide variety of stalls to again be a feature.

They will cover old and new car parts, automobilia, collectables, plants, shrubs, clothing, footwear. woodwork,

bric-a-brac and books. Stall sites are available outdoors and indoors.

The day will also feature a static display of steam engines, vintage cars, motor cycles and buggies.

The gates will open on the Sunday at 6.00 a.m., and stall holders can set up on the Saturday or from 5.30 a.m. on the Sunday. The gates will open to the public at 6.00 a.m.

Rotary itself will conduct a book stall which will cover a wide range of subjects, fiction and non-fiction. Contributions of books is being sought, and anyone who needs to clear some space on their book shelves will be welcomed to do so by donating them to the stall. All proceeds from the book stall will go to the Crookwell Library.

Rotarian David Rees will be organiser, and can be contacted on 48 321491.

Crookwell Furniture has kindly offered to act as a dropping off point for all books donated. People can take their “pre-loved” books to the store during normal business hours.
