UPPER Lachlan Mayor Cr. John Shaw has branded as "disgraceful and discourteous" the State Planning Department's gazettal of the Shire's new Local Environment Plan without discussing Council's submission for modifications.
The Department's response to Council's submission did not reach Council until last Thursday morning - after the monthly meeting had begun and after the actual gazettal.
Council had sought three changes to the LEP as presented to it by the Department.
These were:
· to extend the area permitting 40 hectare minimum development to the Lost River area to take in a further 14,880 hectares;
· an extension of 4,180 hectares in the Kangaloolah - Limerick area of the 80 hectare minimum;
· the establishment of a 127 hectare zone for 2 hectare blocks around the village of Collector.
