THE BELOW comments are from the Department of Education in response to the questions asked by the Crookwell Gazette to the department on the dumping of the Five Mile Tree School Contents.
Due to a miscommunication, some items from Five Mile Tree Public School were regrettably taken to the Crookwell Waste Disposal Centre, these included pieces of memorabilia and educational resources.
However, other more significant items, such as Laptop Computers, Interactive White Boards and Electronic Microscopes were taken to Binda Public School and Crookwell High School when Five Mile Tree Public School closed in 2010.
Staff from Binda Public School were able to recover from the disposal centre some items of significance to the local community, including photographs, books and teaching resources.
The Department of Education and Communities apologies for this mistake and is reviewing its processes to ensure a similar situation does not recur.
