Time to head back to church

26 Aug, 2010 10:38 AM
THE Back to Church weekend will be held at St Bartholomew’s Church, Crookwell this Sunday August 29 with a service of worship commencing at 10am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

There will also be puppets and craft activities for children in the small hall. After the service there will be a bumper morning tea for everyone.

It has been claimed that Back to Church Sunday is one of the largest local church events to be held in the world.

Last year 600 churches across Australia were involved with this event with an estimated 12,000 people in church.

Of course we shouldn’t be surprised with these figures. With recent surveys carried out in Australia it was found that 68 per cent of Australians say that they are Christians.

“I reckon that for a regular weekly event throughout the year there are more people in worship across the churches than for any other regular in-door event!” said Rev Kevin Stone.

Why not attend your own service of worship this weekend. And if you haven’t any church to attend, you will be welcome at St Bartholomew’s. As one person said last year, “I was thinking of coming back but needed a reason to do so.”
