STILLBROOK Merino and Poll Merino forth annual on-property sale, held Friday November 20, produced a sound result for vendors John, Sandra and Troy Bensley. Out of the 35 horned and poll rams offered, 22 were sold at auction to a top price of $1600 twice and an average of $756.
Established clients, Radon and Di Reynolds of "Fullerton Station", Fullerton, purchased the top priced poll ram for $1600 and a second for $700.
The 74 kilogram ram's statistics read: 20.5 micron, 3.4 SD, 17.0 CF and 99.2 CF and was sired from the Sydney 2006 fine wool champion by Sir Winston.
A and J Pearce, "Reidy Creek", Burraga, were the other top priced buyers, securing a two-year-old Merino sire weighing 96kg and 19.4 micron for $1600 and a one-year-old for $1400.
Repeat buyers, Ian and Elizabeth Murray of Yass, secured three sires to a top of $1400, averaging $1133.
Return clients, Mac and Sandra Wilson, Glen Rannoch Pastoral Co., purchased two rams at $500 and $650 respectively.
Another return client, Hugh Cooke of Dalton, secured three lots all at $500 a head.
Loyal client, Stephen Mills, purchased two lots at $500 and a third for $800.
The $800 ram's proceeds were donated to the 'Dr Charles Teo Cure For Life Foundation' for brain tumour research in memory of the late Bobby Mills.
Other repeat buyers on the day were VF GT and WA Fisher who took home four rams at $500 each, and Brian Evans who also purchased two rams at $500 each.
The selling agents on the day were Landmark and the auctioneer was Michael Laing.
