THE Crookwell Hotel Motel sponsored Green Devils were beaten by the competition leaders, the Harden Hawks, on Saturday in a controversial game.
Harden scored near the beginning of the first half and looked like they would pile on the points early.
Crookwell defended well for 20 minutes before Harden went into Greens territory out wide.
The game was physical with both sides controlling the ball well. The half time score was 22-10 to
Harden.
Crookwell started the second half on fire scoring first to bring the score to 22 to 16 to Harden.
Crookwell had the run of the play and looked next to score before a pass was ruled forward and a scrum was packed with the ball going back about a metre.
With 17 minutes to go a Crookwell player was sent from the field for a high tackle.
One minute later another Devil was sent from the field: this time the captain asking a question on a ruling.
From then on it was all the Hawks way, scoring three converted tries.
The Devils got back to full strength with just six minutes to go. Crookwell scored next to bring the score to 40 to 22 Harden’s way.
The Devils’ players were outstanding in defence and attack. Danny Knight and Blake Hewitt were
exceptional.
The Devils play Harman this Saturday at 2.30pm at Harman.
