THE Crookwell Dogs went down on Saturday to a hard running and fit RMC side 40 - 14. The Dogs were in the must win position going into the game to secure a finals place, but were unsuccessful in their final attempt at playing semi final footy this year.
The result leaves Crookwell in fifth position on the ladder for the 2010 season, three points behind Taralga who finished fourth.
Crookwell were up against it from the start, with the fitter RMC running with more enthusiasm in the first half scoring four unanswered tries before the halftime break. The Dogs regathered in the second half and played a much better and simpler style of footy and came home hard scoring two tries of their own.
The score line was not an accurate reflection of the game with RMC scoring some soft tries through Crookwell’s (at times) lazy defence.
Crookwell’s tries were scored under the posts by Sam Hall and Dave Picker off simple backline plays set up by reserve fly half Neil Seaman. Reserve kicker James Frost converted both tries. This week’s 3 - 2 - 1 and
Players Player went to: 3 Anthony Frost, 2 Toby Wilson, 1 Sam Hall and Anthony Frost also secured the
Players Player vote.
