The project is to be located on two separate land areas known as Crookwell 3 East (1,100 ha) and Crookwell 3 South (400 ha) sites.
It is proposed to construct up to 30 wind turbine generators and associated infrastructure.
The cable network will be connected by (underground and/or above ground cables) to an approved national electricity grid substation located on the adjacent Crookwell 2 wind farm site.
The environmental assessment reports are on exhibition from November 1 2012 to February 6 2013. Interested members of the public are encouraged to review the environmental assessment and lodge a submission providing feedback during this time.
The environmental assessment for the project can be viewed during business hours at:

Project facts
Up to 30 wind turbine generators with a maximum capacity of 3.4MW each
Hub height: up to a maximum of 105m
Rotor diameter: up to a maximum of 104m
Tip height: up to a maximum of 152m
The Crookwell 3 wind farm project proposal will have a total capacity of up to 102MW and will generate between 146GWh to 209Wh of electricity per year (this range depends on the turbine model selected for the project).
The greenhouse gas savings attributed to the proposed project are equivalent to the electricity use of a population up to 86,385 or 33,225 average households. This is approximately quarter of Canberra’s population or more than double the population of Goulburn.
Economic Benefits of Crookwell 3 wind farm
The proposed project, with capital investment of approximately $90-100 million, will create up to 40 full time equivalent jobs during the construction phase and up to six full time equivalent jobs during the operation phase.
The construction and operation phases of the project will stimulate the economy in the Upper Lachlan shire as a result of job creation, and higher disposable income and expenditure in the region.
These economic benefits are enhanced by CDPL’s commitment to contribute an annual contribution of $1.666 (adjusted annually to change with the CPI) per operating turbine to the local community, as part of Upper Lachlan’s Community Enhancement Fund. This equates to an annual contribution of almost $50.000 per annum to the direct benefit of community projects in the local area.
