WALKING into the Club last Thursday night me and hubby didn’t quite know what to expect.
Dirty Dicks is in town! We were all pumped for a great night and we got one.
The crowd was hooked to the entertainment supplied by the trio, Mr Dirty Dick [himself], Fanny Farquhar and the Court Jester.
Not many people left their seats and I don’t know if it was the case of “if I leave I really could miss something.”
The bibs were delivered to audience members and there was roars of laughter as you read your name tags and the people beside you.
Then it was around the room asking for birthdays in the crowd and yes there were a few valid dates of the day before or the day after but the funny ones were the not so valid dates of April and November. I don’t know how they got to stand up for the crowd to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to them. He, He bit funny!
The entrée arrived to the tables and the head of each table were instructed to serve their table guests. Soup was in order and a lovely one it was.
On with the entertainment and more games.
Heads or tails was the next game to be played and the winner eventually was tails, ‘Major Blow’ and you know who you were.
There was lots of laughter, singing and frivolity throughout the crowd and not a dry eye in sight. I think the age ranged from 18 to 80 someone said. I know the visitors on the other side of the bar and all the staff members had a good laugh too.
The main meal was then served in a very orderly fashion with the plate brimming with roast meat, baked vegetables and extras. I noticed many clean plates returned to the kitchen, that has to be a positive sign everyone enjoying the main course.
The mickey was taken out of ‘Iva Biggin’ and his four ‘Ruined Maids’ and the main man for the night “Sir Barren Nuts’ – Steven, also received a mention.
With names like ‘Lady Boobie’ – Danielle, and ‘Ride-a-cock-horse’ – Billy, you really had to be there to enjoy the experience.
The next game for the night saw two teams of four take to the stage to play the ribbon game. They had to pass a ribbon down through their clothes, starting tops to pants and on to the next person. This proved quite difficult the tighter the pants you were wearing. I noticed the boys undid their belts and zips to make it a little easier. The girls with tight jeans - not so easy! I might say the maroons beat the blues again in this close tussle.
The dessert was served and more singing and merriment was had by all.
The final game for the night was the ‘F’ ‘F’ ‘F’ verse that a selected few had to recite to the audience. It got right down to the wire with the final lass ‘Jenny Talia’ or Jane as we all know her won the prize of the night.
Well done dirty Dicks and well done Crookwell for the fine night of laughs and good time had by all. Three cheers to the RSL!
