DESPITE another cold Saturday the second draw for the Crookwell IGA and Davies Newsagency Shop to Fiji competition attracted a large crowd vying for the chance to win. Local doctor and Citizen of the Year, Dr Thangavelu was on hand to draw the entries. The large crowd warmly acknowledged Dr Velu’s contribution to the community over the past 38 years.

The Davies Newsagency stationery hamper was won by Tara Lowe. The 60 second Grocery Grab was won by local resident Jo Knight and the major prize of a trip to Fiji for two people was won by local school teacher Di Middlemiss.
When informed of her win, Di commented that she ‘had never won anything in her life’ and was very excited that she could escape the Crookwell cold for a few lovely nights in Fiji.
At the conclusion of the draw, the gathered crowd made their way to Crookwell IGA to watch a very nervous Jo Knight grab as many groceries as she could in 60 seconds. On the word go Jo flew off the mark and made it through numerous isles grabbing as much as she could. Jo’s grab was broadcast live in store so the crowd was able to watch her progress. She was clearly exhausted after what was a very energetic 60 seconds.
The Shop to Fiji Promotion has continued its tremendous success with more entries in the second draw. Crookwell IGA and Davies Newsagency would like to thank the Crookwell district community for their continued support by shopping locally.
The third phase is already underway and another Fiji trip, hamper and Grocery Grab will be given away on Saturday August 17. Make sure you get your entries in to be eligible for the next draw. All you have to do is spend $60 at Crookwell IGA or $20 at Davies Newsagency (conditions apply) and you too could be escaping the winter and flying off to Fiji.
