Golspie wind farm opens its doors to the community

GOLSPIE WIND FARM will be holding a Public Open Day at the Golspie Community Hall on August 15, 2012 from 2.30pm to 7.00pm.

The Public Open Day provides an opportunity for local residents and interested community members to meet with the Wind Prospect CWP development and assessment team directly.

It is a chance to ask tough questions of Wind Prospect CWP staff.

The event ensures that community members can have input in the wind farm design and environmental assessment studies.

Wind Prospect CWP staff will be on hand to listen to each and every person interested in the project.

The conversations had on the day help the development team to identify as many local interests as possible and they are offering to look at individual circumstances with respect to the draft NSW Wind Energy Guidelines as well as the Upper Lachlan Council Development Control Plan for Wind Farms 2010.

Development Manager for the project Daniel MacDonald commented “We will deliver a project that far outweighs any negatives through generations of clean energy and sustainable and long term outcomes for the Upper Lachlan Local Government Area, the landholders of Golspie and Fullerton, the businesses of the Crookwell, Taralga and greater area and the communities surrounding the wind farm.

We have been and will continue to actively listen to the local community.

Our conversations with local landholders, neighbours, council, authorities and wider community lead to continual improvements to the draft design. This input is vital to delivering a project that best responds to the interest of the local and wider community and is thoroughly assessed on the state level according to some of the strictest guidelines used anywhere in the world.”

Wind Prospect CWP intends on submitting an Environmental Assessment to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure within the next 18 months.

If you are unable to attend the open day, WPCWP encourage members of the community to complete a Public Opinion Survey which can be accessed through the project website at www.golspiewindfarm.com.au. Alternately, you can contact the office directly on 02 4013 4640 if you wish to have a Public Opinion Survey mailed to you.

If you require additional information or would like to discuss the progress of the project further, please contact Daniel MacDonald on 0400 781 651.
