Homegrown heroes at the London Olympics

It happens once every four years. But some participants only get to take part once in their life time, and most of us never get to take part at all.

The Olympics, the greatest show on Earth, is taking place in London from July 27 – August 12 and we have some local Olympians taking part. Goulburn’s Glenn Turner and Michael Diamond will join with Crookwell’s Brooke Pratley and Emily Smith in the quest for Olympic Gold.

To keep us up to date on how our locals are going, we’ll also be following @G_Turner4, @ausrowing, @Hockeyroos, @Kookaburras and @RowingAust. If you happen to know any other Twitter accounts for our Olympians or their sporting bodies, let us know and we'll follow them too.

But even if we can’t physically take part, we can throw our support behind them with messages of support. The following Live Blog will automatically include any tweets that include the hashtags #GoulburnOlympians or #CrookwellOlympians if you want to tweet a hero message to any of them. And if you don’t tweet, you can add your messages of support at the comments space at the bottom of the blog.

So while we’re cheering on the Aussies, let’s not forget our homegrown heroes who’ve achieved so much to get to the Olympics, and cheer them on as they proudly represent us.
