Guests were asked to wear their “medals”, and there were some very interesting “Medals” on display.
Leon discovered some worn by his grandchildren that they had won for Sport and Leadership, two people present did have legal O.A.M.’s, one relative had his medal when representing Australia in sport, someone had received two real “Life Sentences”.
Perhaps the most unexpected was the gentleman who had been awarded a VC – when one read the fine print it was for “very cranky”, and in smaller print “grumpy old man”.
