THE wound Clinic Upgrade commenced in December 2013 at the Crookwell District Hospital. The hospital was successful in gaining a grant from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust for $29,913 to remove obsolete plumbing and commence the replacement of new flooring and wall plastering.

The work commenced in February 2014 and is scheduled for completion during April this year.
There have been minor disruptions to patient care areas due to construction.
Mrs Liz Ikin, the wound care nurse, is very excited about the renovations and is looking forward to providing wound care services in the new clinic
Also in 2013 the Hospital was successful in gaining a Clinical Support Officers’ position to provide administrative support to nursing staff.
Mrs Kerry McPaul commenced in this new role and her position has proved valuable for nursing staff.
During 2013/14 the ‘Ministry of Health’ allocated funds to employ Clinical Nurse Educators across southern local health districts with Crookwell Hospital gaining a part time position.
The position will commence in April 2014. Many Crookwell residents would know Mrs Serina Lynch, currently the head of the emergency department.
Mrs Lynch has been successful in her application and will commence this new position in April.
Mrs Lynch will continue working part time in the emergency department.
The Clinical Nurse Educator position allows CDH to participate in the new graduate registered nurse program with a six month rotation of first year registered nurses with Goulburn base Hospital. This is currently underway.
The first rotation commenced in March 2014.
Child and Family Health Services have resumed with the successful recruitment of Mrs Maryanne Smith to the position. Mrs Smith also works at Goulburn Base Hospital as a midwife and she comes well equipped for this position.
Services have resumed in March with child and family as well as immunisation appointments available by contacting the hospital on 48321300.
Many Crookwell residents are enjoying the pathology services now available at the Hospital.
Previously members of the public required an appointment and the service was provided out of the emergency department. Now members of the public can access services at the hospital Monday – Friday from 7.30pm to 11am at the hospital with no appointment required.
This service commenced in August 2013 and since its inception has been very well patronised.
Other news, the hospital is embarking on a bed replacement program and this is made possible through the generous donations from members of the community as well as community organisations. To date we have replaced two beds.
