The veteran coach knows this will be critical in achieving success this season after falling one game short of making the grand final in 2013.
By fate, his troops head into round one with the Yass Roos for a replay of last year’s semi final loss.
“We’re mindful Yass is a small ground,” a tight-lipped Armstrong told the Post.
“It wont be free flowing and we just need each of our players to do their job.”
Swans president Grant Haigh is another who believes timing is important this season.
“We probably peaked a little too early last season, so we need to be a little bit smarter,” Haigh said.
Haigh points out a strong committee will benefit the club this year and that players have been energetic and looking forward to beginning the season’s campaign.
He points out silky player Sam Ash along with Ben Conway and Brad Armstrong as some of the guys providing a lot of voice at Swans training.
Swans kick off their campaign in Yass tomorrow.
