On Saturday April 4, the Crookwell Dogs delivered a very thorough 49 - 0 beating to the Junee Rams, in Junee.
After winning both trial matches, quite convincingly, this well and truly points to a great 2014 season for the Doggies.
The Crookwell Dogs travelled down to Junee with a full side, to play a trial match against the Rams for a good midday hit out.
The Rams were out for a relaxing game of country rugby, but got more than they expected.
The Dogs pack well and truly rounded up the Rams forwards at every opportunity, strong in the scrum and very dominant at the breakdown.
The backs performed out of their skins, creating plays and defending extremely well all game.
The Rams were a bit unfit and a little under prepared for the match, but still showed signs of having a good season.
After three 15 minute thirds the Dogs had well and truly rampaged their way to a great win.
Coach Bruce Nixon was very happy with the boy’s performance, but, can still see plenty of improvements to be made.
No individual players have been named, but, the whole team played exceptionally well and are looking forward to their first hit out.
Only a little over a week to go until the first round, and the first game is set to be a cracker.
The Crookwell Dogs play the Taralga Tigers in the local derby in Crookwell on May 3 at 2.30pm and they would love to see all the supporters there to cheer them on.
The Crookwell Dogs would like to thank their Major sponsors 7News, Crookwell Golf Club, Landmark Crookwell, SMR, Duncombe & Co and the Laggan Hotel, and hope to see you at the game and at the Crookwell Golf Club for the after match function.
