An initial response to a call for quotations for the supply and installation of the equipment needed, however, has been poor, and Council has re-advertised.
Tenders this time round will close on July 25.
The wind farm developers had made an offer to Council to provide funding for the tower over and above its commitment to a community enhancement fund.
This funding would be provided as soon as it was required to see a start on building the tower.
Crookwell and other areas in the Upper Lachlan have experienced ongoing problems with TV reception ever since the introduction of digital transmission.
Many areas received no signal at all and had to have recourse to satellite transmission – many at their own cost.
Other areas have found that the digital signal has a tendency to “break up,” even where the previous analogue signal had provided no problems.
