THE Crookwell Dogs took on the Taralga Tigers in a home Grand Final on Saturday September 6 but unfortunately came away with a loss, going down 32 - 12. The chook shed was at capacity, with many of the older locals making the comment that they had never seen a crowd at a football game, as big as the one that came to watch this local derby.

The support from our fantastic town was huge and the Dogs would like to thank the business houses who decorated their windows and shop fronts in support of the team. It is great to be from a town where so much support is always given for all of our sporting teams!
With the dust settled from the Grand Final loss (which by all accounts was celebrated for several days!) 140 Dogs and their supporters gathered at the Crookwell Golf Club for a sell out red carpet presentation night of nights.
As the crowd swelled and the limos pulled away it was time for all to reflect on a year of records, great achievements and great fun from a club in building mode.
Some of the highlights of the year were as follows. Numbers supplied and confirmed by SMR accounting.
*Beer prices down 50%
*Beer consumption up 200%
*Crowd numbers up 723% finishing with a record rugby crowd of 2283 for the Grand Final.
*32 registered players (all needed throughout the year).
*Bruce Nixon’s commitment to coaching, travelling 9234km this season.
*Record attendances at post match functions.
*Old boys reunion.
*Gizza’s Race Day at the Golf Club (Watch for next years date).
*Record sponsorship uptake and support.
*The smooth transition of Danny Knight, Steve Kelly and Mic Carlon to the running game.
*The great leadership by young Brave heart Patty Carlon.
*The 40 minutes played by Spoons Kennedy in his first year.
The list goes on and on with many unprintable.
After a three course meal including 200 day grain fed wagyu beef with a side of 1/2 kg W.A crayfish or a rack of 150 day grass/milk fed non organic twice drenched lamb smothered in local mint and truffle oil, it was time for the annual awards ,after a short word from the President and a long word from the Coach.
