The 17 cadets are from the Crookwell High School and have been put through their training by Crookwell Rural Fire Service instructors recently.

The instructors complete the training yearly with elected volunteers from the school.

School Principal Brian Hudson wishes to thank the students and the RFS for completing the training and putting their hands up to learn how to protect the residents of the shire if called upon.

some of the students will join their local area brigades and have further training with these outfits to get to know the trucks and equipment they will be required to use.

Let’s hope we don’t need to use them this fire season.

Trainer Norm Fountain has been training the children for many years and commented that the students are getting more and more enthusiastic and are happy to volunteer in their new roles.
