After drawing with Central North Zone due to rain then defeating Newcastle and Western Zones, Southern ACT met North Coastal Zone in the Grand Final.
In the final Sam Skelly set the scene with his first ball bowling the opening batsman. Wickets kept falling at a regular rate and the North Coastal team were dismissed for 79 in the 39th over.
Sam ended up with match figures of 8 overs, 2 for 11 and was well supported by Ollie with figures of 5 overs 0 for 15.
Southern Zone ACT none for 82 when they went past the opposition score in the 15th over.
Team mates Matt Gilkes 47 (not out) was awarded the man of the match medal during the presentations and captain Daniel Leerdam 34 (not out) was recognised for his valuable contribution.
The team was in the very good hands of Coaches Scott Moran, Ben Willis and Ray Fisher who provided the environment for the team to succeed.
Over the three completed games Sam ended up with statistics of 26 overs, 4 wickets for 60.
Ollie’s statistics were 15 overs, 1 wicket for 61.
This is the first Bradman cup victory for Southern Zone since 2002 and our local boys should be proud of their achievements at the carnival.
