A strong crowd of over 400 attended the Dawn Service in Crookwell this morning with a total of 100 marchers.
President of the Crookwell RSL Sub Branch Kevin King said, "We are astounded and very happy for so many people to come to the service this morning.
"It is great to see so many including children out to remember and pay respects to past ad present soldiers who have served this great country at war.
"Many men from this district lost their lives in the wars and today we will pay respect to the fallen soldiers."
Today marks the 100th anniversary of soldiers landing at Gallipoli, with many not even making it to shore - they were killed in the boats.
We lost young men, mostly in their early 20s, just boys who thought they had embarked from Australia on a great adventure.
It was a stark reality when they faced the life in the trenches and on the battlefields with most of them being killed or wounded badly.
Many stayed on to enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Crookwell Hotel Motel.
The 11am march will form outside the RSL Club at 10.45am to march to the Cenotaph again. There will be a larger ceremony with laying of wreathes.
We shall remember them, Lest We Forget.
