The grass was crunchy underfoot with the overnight frost painted across the fields up at Lin Cooper. The cars and four wheel drives began to ring the frosty grass. Parents were rugged up, but the kids were in the shorts and colours ready to battle it out. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, but there was energy crackling ready to be unleashed.
Soccer is brought to you every week by the generosity of our sponsors: Junior's Major Sponsor: I Just Fit Blinds and Awnings and Under 14's sponsor Spackman Motors. Also thanks to the Top Pub for sponsoring the men and the overall Seniors.

Gold v Red
Gold and Red both had an excellent handle on passing with the play regularly ranging from end to end. Red had standout performances by Mason Kearney, Charlotte Stephenson and Emma Page, but the goal mouth eluded them despite lots of valiant attempts. Gold had better fortune with good work from Amelia Croker and goals from Billy Hynes, Isabelle Medway and Blake McCarten. The end result was a confident victory by Gold.
Green v Grey
This was another tight contest with both teams playing hard. Grey's Cameron Herd and Hannah Shipton went above and beyond, but the Green goals from Joshua Merryfull, Georgie Lloyd, Mikeely Grey and Aaron Lloyd put them in the winning position.
Orange v Blue

Orange v Gold
This game was a constant ebb and flow, back and forward, to and fro. Some good defence by Gold's Rhys Ellem, but Orange got lucky with goals for Levi Woods and Oliver Carballystouton giving them the win.
Blue v Maroon
Maroon stood firm in the face of a very strong Blue performance, relying on stalwarts like Isabelle Johnston and their sole goal scorer Cody Tate. Blue had it sorted with goals landing true from Mitchell Lyons and Jack Griffin. Bolstered by the teamwork from Bonita Holman and Emma McCormack, Blue were able to stay ahead to win the match.
Green v Red
No shortage of effort in this game as Red's Bryony McCormack and Taleisha Bill were always on point to keep Green on their toes. Red's time came with goals landing from Archie Duncombe and Christian Bugeja. Green's strategy was being realised with goals from Kimberly Allport and Harry Skelly. Green's total was beyond the Red's and the game ended with their victory secured.

Gold v Green
Both teams were super impressive on the field for this game. Gold played well with Emmit Okkonen and Tyler Smith delivering the points. On the Green side, Jet Tate and Liam McCormack scored well. The end total was in Gold's favour, but no one could deny that both teams were exceptional.
Red v Grey
Grey had a fight on their hands with this game, but players like Dylan Greenwood and Makayla Clements kept Red from having free reign. Red had a rhythm going with Florence Dark passing like a champ and Reed Kearney and George Skelly bringing the points. Grey did well to keep the Red total from getting too big, but they had enough to win the game.
Maroon v Orange
Maroon were in the goal business with Spencer Johnston and Jack Speer scoring throughout this game. Orange's Charlie Cramp tried to balance the ledger with two heroic goals, but Maroon were too far in front at the final whistle.

Blue v Orange
A tough match with only a single goal from Blue's Shae Dumesic, but there were awesome efforts from team mate Ava Nicholson. On the Orange side, the pocket rockets Tynan Long and Thomas Cole kept things moving. By the finale of the match, Blue had hung on with their little lead.
Green v Gold
What happened here? It's hard to say. Life is full of mysteries and this is another in the long list.

Under 18s tussle with the “Bushys”
LEAGUE
It was an early start in Canberra for the Devil’s Under 18s who played the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at the Raiders Belconnen Grounds last Sunday.
With the kick off at 10.20am there was still signs of a heavy frost from the evening before.
Crookwell receive the opening kick and they were off to a good start with Jack Dawson scoring near the posts in the first few minutes. Steve Cummins converted the try.
At the eighth minute mark after poor play by Crookwell the Bushrangers scored off a beautiful kick, poorly read by the Crookwell backs. Conversion was successful.
On the twelfth minute, Devil’s halfback Jordan Unterrheiner received the ball 10 metre out from the try line, and after he dummied one way he headed straight through a large gap, scoring near the post with the conversion successful.
The next few minutes saw Crookwell play poorly in defence again, not sliding or marking up and the Bushrangers go in twice in a small space of time, converting both tries.
Late in the half saw Crookwell on the attack again and after some good lead up work and great passing Jayden Connor went over the try line in the corner. Isaac Walker converted the try from wide out.
Half time score 18 all.
The second half started off positive for the Devils with some good hard tackles and great ball movement and at the fourth minute mark Jack Dawson scored next to the uprights with Steve Cummins converting again.
The game went back and forward with good defence on both sides until the fifteen minute mark when Jack Dawson makes a 30 metre run, passing to Steve Cummins.
You can't beat pure pace as Steven run around the fullback and scored out wide.
Isaac Walker again converted from out wide.
Final score Devils 30 Bushranger 18.
It was a hard bruising game with the three main props James Anderson, Mitch Grocott and Kieran Price not finishing the game through injury or exhaustion.
Jayden Eddy was named player's player.
He plays well above his weight in defence and attack and he shows what can be achieved if you put in at training. He was unlucky not to score several times but he was always around the ruck area picking up any loose balls and making yardage.
The under 18s have a bye next weekend but on July 5 all three grades play at home against the Bungendore Tigers with the 18s kicking off at 12 noon, the She Devils at 1.30pm and Seniors at 2.30pm.
The Game between the Crookwell She Devils and the Bungendore Tigerettes was called off last weekend due to the Bungendore Oval being closed - too wet.
NOTE: Don't forget this Saturday evening a major Devils fundraiser will be held at the RSL Club, "Casino Night" commencing at 6.30pm. Tickets available at the club or from Bec Hewitt.
