Match report
Dogs dig for Gold
IT was a cold day in Crookwell so the Dogs decided to head to the warmer parts of the state to take on the Boorowa Goldies.
With only two on the bench after warm up the players were happy to see two late arrivals turn up and put on the boots and make the side a bit stronger.
The start of the game saw Edward Price make some brainstorming runs going close to the white line but he wasn't able to go over. It also saw Steven Croker sent to the blood bin and receive over 15 stitches to his cheek.
The boot of Dion Aramoana was exceptional, with points flying from the Goldies ill-discipline, but it went both ways with the Dogs lacking in patience.
Dion's solid running saw him rewarded with a try under the posts before half time giving the Dogs the lead.
The coach was happy with the first half effort from all the boys and they were asked to do the same again in the second half and that is exactly what they did from the whistle.
Plenty of pressure from Crookwell with Aaron Leighton managing to sneak over the line for another try.
The Goldies were starting to tire giving Gearin Price the opportunity go over for a try on the short side.
The game was nearly done but the Boorowa spirit never dies and with the crowd behind them, they managed to claw back a try on full time to bring the closing score to 33-17 to the Crookwell Dogs.
Points last week went to Edward Price (three), Paddy Carlon (two), James Croker (one). Player’s player went to Edward Price and Chick’s pick was Bruce Nixon.
This weekend sees the Crookwell Dogs take on The Taralga Tigers at home. It is also Ladies Day at the Oval, with cheese and biscuits, raffles and beverages on offer for the ladies. Everyone is welcome! The kick off is at 2.30pm.
