Accreditation of Australian pharmacies was first introduced in 2004 in an effort to standardise pharmacy practise and standards across Australia.
During this time Hart’s Pharmacy was one of the first pharmacies in country New South Wales to apply to be assessed, and was in fact the 54th pharmacy within Australia to be successfully accredited, out of over five thousand pharmacies, nationwide that year.
Since 2004, Hart’s Pharmacy has participated in reaccreditation every two years, to ensure the standards and systems that were initially put in place are maintained and/or improved to adjust to changing conditions in Australian pharmacy.
The accreditation process involves a visit by an assessor from the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, who, spends over four hours in the pharmacy going over their current systems and procedures to make certain that they are up to date and meet quality standards.
Should some of these not be up to standard, a list of remedial actions is given to the pharmacy who then must make the necessary changes prior to a certificate of accreditation being issued.
Following Hart’s Pharmacy’s most recent assessment, the Guild Assessor announced that no remedial actions needed to be undertaken by the pharmacy.
As this translated to a one-hundred percent pass mark, owner Ken Wicks was thrilled with this result. Ken was quick to deflect the credit for this excellent result to his staff, who led by Narelle Kensit, completed all extra work necessary to make certain the pharmacy was up to date and met all requirements for the accreditation.
Ken, Kerry and the staff of Hart’s Pharmacy remain committed to providing optimal customer service and care to our community moving forward.
