Man of match was George Skelly with 4 tries and excellent defense. Harry Branson scored 2 powerful tries and was equally as powerful in defense. Reed Kearney was the other try scorer with a great solo try. They lost 32 - 28. Contributed.
Ragin' 8s
Crookwell Green Devils under 8s played the Goulburn Broncos on Saturday at North Park in Goulburn. Tackling their way to a hard fought 16-12 win. The boys had their minds on the job this week from the start and it showed in their commitment in defence. Helping each other out to have three or four defenders in most tackles. Also in attack, they were supporting the ball runner which resulted in a couple of clever offloads that led to tries. Jake Cosgrove, with some strong runs resulting in him crossing the line for a try. Some good leg tackles earned him this week’s coaches award. Man of the Match went to Jack Speer. With his great service from dummy half to his tackling, great support play and cheeky little offloads, he just seemed to be involved in every play. A big thanks from the team to George Skelly and Nate Kemp for backing up after the under 7s to help us out. These two boys made a huge contribution to the victory. The under 8s play the Goulburn Stallions at North park 2:20pm on Saturday. Contributed.
Crookwell Junior Green Devils canteen
As you would all be aware by now, the club is running the canteen and barbecue facilities. This means that we are sharing the workload between every team. This weekend is home games on Sunday and it will be under 13s turn. We would ask that you have at least four helpers to start at 9am. The canteen runs until all games are completed. It is up to your team to organise helpers. If you have any questions please contact Megan Skelly or Kristy Knight.
Around the Grounds - Round 4
Round 4 was a warm one, almost too warm. Our Junior Green Devils U6s-U9s played in their usual Saturday comp in Goulburn at Stockmen’s home grounds, North Park.
The Super Dooper 6s were as entertaining as usual.
And what they lack in experience they make up for, with "creative" thinking.
The Slammin' 7s fought a tough match, giving all they had, as always. The Ragin' 8s never fail to impress. Watching these kids, you get a feeling you're getting a look of things to come.
And the Nifty 9s fought hard in an absolute nail biter.
The results are as follows;
U6s - Won, not scored. Man of the match - Jack Haynes.
U7s - Lost 28-32. Man of the match - George Skelly.
U8s Won - 16-12. Man of the match - Jack Speer.
U9s Lost - 20-22. Man of the match - Lachlan Nagle.
Sunday’s matches were away games. With a mixed bag of results. The weather warmed up to 23 degrees. And I'm sure the boys were all feeling it. The results from Sundays games are as follows;
U10s played Tuggeranong Knights - 26-26. Man of the match - Campbell McCormack.
U11s played Cooma Colts - 18-18. Man of the match - Zakaia Lewis.
