She Devils
The She Devils took on the ADFA girls last weekend in Canberra.
In a game that was very keenly contested and at times very physical the Crookwell girls took it all in there stride.
Crookwell captain Kayla Gann started the She Devil’s freight train going with a quick try five minutes in.
From then on, it was full steam ahead.
With tries scored at will against their opposition, by the time halftime came around it was 38-nil.
The second half was much of the same for the ADFA girls, with their tempers fraying and ball control lacking, the Crookwell girls ran away with it.
Another 26 unanswered points seeing the final score 64-nil.
With captains Kayla Gann and Heidi Chudleigh leading the way with four and two tries respectively, their team mates added to ADFA’s woes with Maddie Cummins, Danica Lenane, Bec Hewitt, Ellie Mcgeechan, Emma Romer and Jessica Smith all adding tries and there hot shot goal kicker Tatum Lenane piloting 8 from 12 between the uprights to conclude the demolition of their opposition.
Crookwell’s coach Paddy Lenane said, "Our effort was good and it's a little bit hard to get into a game and execute your plays that you have trained for when points are being scored so frequently.
“We gave some cheap penalties away in the first half and that's something we will work on, but to the girls credit, they corrected that it the second half which was pleasing.
“For me it was the nil score line that I was most pleased with, defence wins games."
Best and Fairest points went to Kayla Gann 3, Heidi Chudleigh 2, Bec Hewitt 1. Player’s player was Kylie Mills.
George Tooke
Crookwell Green Devils George Tooke side travelled to Canberra on Saturday 18 June to play the bottom of the table ADFA side.
Crookwell started the game well making plenty of ground with the ball and defending solidly.
After only seven minutes, the Devils scored out wide after some good ball movement seeing winder Caylon Jackson-Wilkie dive over in the corner. The conversion was wide and the Devils were up 4-0
Five minutes later fullback Danny Knight read the ADFA attack well and took an intercept to run away and score.
Danny converted his own try to take the Devils to 10-nil.
The Devils then became their own worst enemy with constant mistakes and penalties forcing them to defend for most of the game.
The score was to remain 10-0 till the last minute of the game when Danny Knight slotted a penalty goal to take the full time score to 12-nil in what was a very lackluster performance.
The Devils best were Josh Kleinig and Josh Hunter in the backs and captain Jamie Boothman and Joe “Rooster" Cummins in the forwards.
The player’s player award went to Josh Kleinig.
