The 8th annual Holcim Mayoral Charity Golf Day has been announced for Friday the 25th of November this year.
Last year saw a perfect day greet golfers, with 24 teams and over 90 participants on the day. Local businesses provided huge support for last year’s event leading to a total of $14,500 being raised on the day. In 2015 the money was distributed to Rotary Clubs of Goulburn Mulwaree, the Goulburn Loco Roundhouse Preservation Society and the Phoenix Committee of Goulburn.
Mayor Geoff Kettle said “the Mayoral Charity Golf Day is an opportunity for local community groups to avail themselves of proceeds of the day for worthwhile projects.”
Goulburn Mulwaree Council is currently seeking expressions of interests from local not-for-profits and charitable organisations who wish to become beneficiaries of the day in 2016. We are also seeking a local charitable organisation or group who is interested in organising and running a raffle on the day.
Submissions to become a beneficiary must include information on how your organisation proposes to use any funds received to benefit the Goulburn Mulwaree community.
Expressions of interest forms are available from Council’s Customer Service Centre or by contacting Debbie McCarthy on 4823 4552 or at debbie.mccarthygoulburn.nsw.gov.au
Make a date with Pictures & Popcorn in the Park
Last year’s Pictures & Popcorn event was voted number one in a Goulburn Post poll and proved so popular it will now become a recurring community event for Goulburn.
“Pictures & Popcorn is a wonderful opportunity for residents and businesses to get together in Belmore Park and celebrate the beauty and lifestyle of our wonderful city,” said Goulburn Mayor, Geoff Kettle.
“These outdoor-movie nights are highlights for our calendars and I suggest everyone takes a moment now to mark the dates in their diaries and schedule time to be at the Park on these evenings,” he said.
To kick off the 2016 Spring Event Series, the first Pictures & Popcorn will be an alcohol-free event for families on Saturday 3 September, followed by a licensed one for adults on Saturday 12 November.
The September event will include children’s activities and games, kid-friendly food options, and music entertainment for older children, while the November event will include market stalls, multicultural-food options, and beer and wine for sale.
“We listened to your comments about last year and plan to make this year even better,” said Mayor Kettle.
“The feedback was that everyone loved it and they want more. We’re aiming for a bigger screen, better seating, more activities, and healthier food options. Hopefully, the rain will stay away for us as well.
“The Pictures & Popcorn events provide significant community benefit and are therefore proudly presented and supported by Goulburn Mulwaree Council,” he said.
Businesses wishing to participate are invited to contact Council’s Marketing and Events Unit.
The Spring Event Series also includes SPYfest, Streamliners, Marulan Kite Festival, Convoy for Kids, Lilac Festival, and the Steampunk & Victoriana Fair.
A third Pictures & Popcorn is scheduled for 18 March 2017.
