We also thank Lyn Morphett, previous proprietor of Me and Ewe, who provided the Cafe facilities in 2012.
Chat A Way Cafe has proved an ideal venue for poetry, music, singing and art and also for showcasing talented young performers of the Shire.
We appreciate the generous use of the Cafe facilities for our annual cultural event. We also thank Crookwell Arcadia for their wonderful window display.
The Mary Gilmore Weekend numbers have continued to grow and it is now time to look for a larger venue for 2017.
Secretary, Mary Gilmore Weekend committee
Thank you
I wish to thank the Committee of the Mary Gilmore Weekend for their efforts in celebrating Mary's works. I believe her most memorable poem was Botany Bay, which created the foundation of our nation; the suffering of the convicts so “that we may walk at our ease today”.
I will just touch on the relationship of Mary and William Gilmore, her husband, who chased the vision splendid on the plains of north western Queensland. They agreed to pursue their own goals. Her last letter (to me) was in 1961, telling me not to let my horses eat the oleanders.
