Lyne Edwards thought she would let ladies know that their ‘Stitch and Chat’ group (affectionately known as ‘Stitch and Bitch’) is still going strong some 18 years after starting in ‘Aunty Lou’s’.

A group of ladies came together one Tuesday morning and over a cuppa and some goodies they gathered to share their love of craftwork. This craftwork included quilting, embroidery, knitting, crochet and everything in between. When Aunty Lou’s closed the group moved to the bottom pub for their meetings. Then when the pub closed, they used the Lynam’s restaurant. The Lynam’s happily accepted and so the group moved to enjoy their cuppa and chat and some lovely morning tea.
With the sad closure of Lynams, this group then moved out to the Laggan Hotel. Once again they came together and enjoyed the company of many crafties. This group still continues and we would like to see more ladies come and join them for a morning of laughter and friendship.
- If you would like to join the group please call Lyne on 4837 3082.
They gather at the Hotel from 10am to noon. Marg, Stu and Kevie spoil us with tea and coffee and goodies. The cost is $6 each and that includes and much tea and coffee you can drink plus goodies (mostly not good for the waistline!)
Some of the ladies crochet, while others knit and quite a few are extremely adept at hand embroidery, quilting and sewing. This does not mean that you have to be good at your crafts, often ladies just come to chat.
Quilts and other handicraft are often brought in for’ show and tell’ and receive a lot of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ of appreciation and envy.
These quilts and handicraft are often entered in the Crookwell Show in February.
There is a very strong bond of friendship and support and if anyone needs any help with anything or just an ear to hear a whinge, there is always many offers of help.
One of the ladies said that coming to “Stitch and Bitch’ is better than going to a psychologist or psychiatrist (and way cheaper!). There is nothing better than a good laugh to chase the ‘blues’ away.
I would like to put this personal invitation out to anyone interested. If you do not or cannot drive there are car pools to help.
We number some 15 with ages ranging from about 50 to one lady being a very bright and able 85 year old. There is no pressure or compulsion for you to attend every week.
Each month the group has a birthday cake so that they can all celebrate the birthdays for that month.
