On Sunday October 23, the Crookwell District Under 12 rep side traveled to Cooma to play Monaro District in their first ever competition rep game. In conditions more suited to rugby than to cricket, Crookwell were sent in to bat on a very difficult wicket but still managed a respectable 117 after 40 overs.
In reply Monaro were bowled out for 87 after 35 overs.
The Crookwell team showed grit in their batting and were outstanding in the field.
Mason Kearney should be congratulated on his debut as captain, ably supported by opener Jack Searl and the entire bowling attack.
The game was played in excellent spirit and both sides are commended for their sportsmanship.
Thanks are extended Monaro for their hospitality – what a sensational lunch!
Thanks also to the parents for taking the time to bring the kids; it is some effort to give up the whole weekend for your child's sport.
Many thanks also to John McGeechan for his generous support.
Also a big thank you to Nick Skelly for coaching the team.
Crookwell now face Shoalhaven at the Grange this Sunday at 10.30 am.
The lads would love to see some support at the game.
