Upper Lachlan Shire Council General Manager John Bell said the essential maintenance work will be carried out on Goulburn Street, Crookwell (Main Road 54) between the Spring Street roundabout and Laggan Road.
“Local traffic diversions will be in place for the duration of the project,” Mr Bell said.
Motorists should observe all safety signage and are strongly encouraged to allow additional time for their journey.
“Care should also be taken by pedestrians to avoid accidental bitumen damage to floors and carpets.
“Vehicle access to businesses will be unavailable while works are in progress.
“However, pedestrian access will be maintained for the duration and the road will be re-opened to normal business traffic and parking each morning from 6am.
"On behalf of Upper Lachlan Shire Council, I would ask for patience as our crews undertake this important work.
“[It] will not only improve safety by repairing defects, but also enhance the visual appeal of Goulburn Street."
In the event of wet weather, work will be rescheduled to the next available fine day.
The Goulburn Street roadworks are part of the contract that the council has with the NSW Roads and Maritime Services to undertake maintenance and reconstruction works on 110km of Main Road 54.
