Dreamworld chief executive officer Craig Davidson said no attraction in the park would reopen until internal and external audits were completed and were reviewed by independent experts and the regulator.

"I would like to confirm, under the direction of (Ardent Leisure chief executive officer) Deborah Thomas, that no parts of the park will open until at least after the funerals of the four people who tragically lost their lives," Mr Davidson said on Friday afternoon.

Four adults died on Tuesday on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast after their raft flipped.

Mr Davidson said the theme park intended to comply with all requests made as part of the police investigation.

"The Premier and the mayor have both said that no stone must be left unturned and we wholeheartedly agree," he said.

Mr Davidson said there was no timeline set for the reopening of rides at Dreamworld.

"We will be taking guidance from experts before we do anything," he said.

Mr Davidson said media reports of a Dreamworld worker making abhorrent comments on social media were false.

"I was sickened as much as anyone else when I heard this story," he said.

"This gentleman is not an employee of Dreamworld. He has never worked on rides here and Dreamworld have contacted his employer to clarify this."

In a statement on Friday afternoon, Dreamworld said it was believed the man was a sub-contractor for a company that managed scaffolding for park refurbishment.

"He is not an engineer that has worked on rides," the statement said.

Mr Davidson said the operator of the ride was experienced and competent, not young and inexperienced as stated in some reports.

Dreamworld held a private staff memorial on Friday morning, attended by about 400 to 500 staff.

There will be a candlelight vigil held at Dreamworld from 6-7pm on Friday.

A spokeswoman for the park confirmed refunds were being offered to ticket-holders unable to access Dreamworld during its closure.

But Slater and Gordon practice group leader Travis Schultz said while people who had bought Dreamworld tickets should have legal access to refunds, other expenses could be "far more difficult".

"It would be rather tenuous to suggest Dreamworld would be liable for all of the travel and associated costs of people coming to the Gold Coast for a holiday that would have included a trip to Dreamworld, just because Dreamworld happens to be closed," he said.

It was a clearer-cut case for Dreamworld ticket-holders, Mr Schultz said.

"If they booked for access on certain days, they're entitled to a refund," he said.

"The Australian consumer law will apply. There are implied warranties, including fit-for-purpose tests.

"If you buy a ticket to access a theme park and they close it, clearly there's a total failure of consideration, even on contractual principles, and they've got to hand the money back."
