Upper Lachlan Shire Council General Manager John Bell said Council was working hard to deliver major projects and redress the backlog created by poor weather conditions.
“Council has increased funds and resources to get our construction and maintenance schedule back on track, but it will take time to remedy the impact of what was an unprecedented and prolonged weather event,” Mr Bell said.
“On behalf of Council I would like to thank the community for their patience as we work to address issues according to priority.
“I would encourage anyone who notices damage to report it to Council on 4830 1000 so we can work on getting it fixed.”
The following major roads projects are underway:
• MR54 Segment 600, Junction Point Road reconstruction and initial sealing Earthworks have been completed and gravel pavement construction has commenced on stages 1 and 2, which represents approximately 2km of the total 5.3km.
Following completion of stages 1 and 2, Council will progress to sealing the road, which is scheduled in March 2017.
• MR52 Gundaroo Road Rehabilitation “Tyrone Section” 8.9km to 10.5km South of Gunning Council has commenced rehabilitation works, which will consist of vegetation clearing and trimming, drainage improvements, formation and pavement widening, shape correction, bitumen sealing and delineation improvements.
Works are expected to be completed by mid May 2017.
• Gurrundah Road Rehabilitation “Bannister Lane Section Council has commenced rehabilitation of this section of road.
Works will consist of vegetation clearing and trimming, formation widening and pavement widening shape correction and bitumen sealing. Works are expected to be completed by in March 2017.
