The 24-year-old was a model, studying criminology and criminal justice. She loved to be active, particularly playing basketball and volleyball. Her smile and red-headed vivaciousness would light up any room.
Now, some days she can barely get out of bed.
"I feel like I'm an old lady," Miss Martin said, from the couch of her family home.
Chronic pain grips her daily, and a list of symptoms as long as her arm tell a frightening tale.
One made even more worrying by the fact that doctors can't put their finger on exactly what she's suffering from. And she's seen more than 30 of them.
In a Facebook video which has garnered more than 1000 shares across the world, including in South Africa, the UK and US, Miss Martin describes her condition through a series of handwritten notes.
"The past almost three years I have been suffering from an undiagnosed condition(s)", one of the first slides reads.
"I spend every day in pain. I don't remember what it feels like to be pain free.
"This is debilitating, exhausting, draining, consuming all of my energy so much that basic daily tasks are too difficult.
"And this is the life I live."
Since the video went across the globe, Miss Martin has been told of the many conditions other people with similar symptoms have been diagnosed with.
She's now being tested for autoimmune diseases. But as yet there are still no answers.
During a holiday in Queensland earlier this year, she was rushed to hospital suffering chest pain.
After an angiogram, the doctor recommended she be urgently tested by a cardiologist. But even with that reference, her appointment in Canberra is not until May.
Her family has a history of heart disease.
"I'm at a point where I don't know what to do anymore," Miss Martin said.
"I've had a ridiculous amount of trips to the hospital, trips to the doctors, tests; I've been jabbed and poked and scanned and cut open, and I don't want that any more, I want some more definite answers.
"I'm over being a test subject."
One of the biggest challenges she's faced is being told doctors won't test her for certain things because of her age.
Her mother, who has been by her side throughout the process, sits beside Miss Martin, her eyes filling with tears. She said the family just wants answers.
"We'd be open to all therapies, we just need to know what's wrong first."
