Last weekend was a Saturday-Sunday game against Golf Club’s old foes, Workers Stags. Played at the Grange, Stags’ captain Daniel Cooper got them off to a good start eventually compiling 101. Crookwell never threw in the towel though and toiled hard with Jake Paterson stepping up to take the bowling honours with 3/52 off 12 overs. Stuart Parsons jagged three, Fox Fenton two with one to Josh Paterson and the partnership breaker Ben Evans.

Hamish “The Hammer” Hammond took two screaming catches, one in gully and one on the rope that everyone had given up on. The target for Golf Club was 235. Stumps on day one it was a disappointing 8/51.
Sunday was another day though and although still a long way in arrears the Paterson twins showed some real grit against some fierce bowling with Jake top scoring with 22 out of a total of 76. Geoff Nicholson was playing his last game for Crookwell and looking to go out on a high. Stuart Parsons was his chosen opening partner and fortunately this combination will never be seen again. Two ducks both bowled by Cooper.
It was up to our young lads again and they performed admirably. The Paterson twins were elevated and both gained some best and fairest points as Josh made 26 and Jake 15. Luke Cummins continues to impress with 18 dogged runs and Brad Smith always looks the goods but got a good nut departing for 13.
Benny Evans stole the show though with 54, fined for giving the home side false hope of possibly making Stags bat again. A far better effort Golf Club making 148 in the second innings.
All in all another comprehensive loss but plenty of positive performances from our up and coming lads. Last game of the season this weekend – a two day match at The Grange against the only side we have beaten this season. See you there to see what unfolds.
