A big weekend of golf saw Maccas Big “A” played on Saturday and the Crookwell Open on Sunday, with just under 100 golfers playing over the two days.
Saturdays event was Maccas four person ambrose, with 50 players turning out and competing for a vast array of trophies sponsored by GM and RA McIntosh Plumbing.
Winning the day was the team of Ashley Gilbert, Sam Hall, Rhys and Mick Secomb, who recorded a great round of 13 under par off the stick, 57, for a final score of 51 7/8.
Runners up were the visiting team of Owen Smith, Angela Dickey, Bill Higgins and Ken McBain on a total of 52 ¾.
Prizes went down to fifth place due to the generosity of Guy and Robyn.
This day led us into the Sunday Crookwell Open where 49 players contested for the title of men’s and ladies open champions.
The ladies Open Champion for 2017 is Patricia Nance, a 6 marker from Coffs Harbour who returned an 8 over 81 to snare the title.
The men’s Open Champion for 2107 is local, Dom McCarthy, who carded a 1 over 71, a great round to bring the championship back home after visitors winning it the past couple of years.
The Junior Open Champion for 2017 is Dan Picker who scored 40 stableford points in the junior division.
Nett winners in the three grades were all won by visitors, A grade went to Greg Nance, B grade to Owen Smith and C grade to Edna Burton. This week is the monthly medal stroke round, sponsored by JD’s Hardware and Rural. See you on the course!
