If determined simply on wins and scoring runs it was quite dismal.
In terms of putting a team on the paddock every week, introducing some talented young lads to first grade cricket and keeping cricket alive we ticked all the boxes.
It was very much a new look side from two seasons ago with a number of under 16’s advancing to first grade.
There was a notable increase in these boys confidence as the season progressed and I am sure there are bigger things ahead.
Golf Club was not required for the semi finals with only the one win for the season.
It was not quite as bad as it sounds though as we did have a number of games against more fancied opponents slip from our grasp.
The main problem seemed to be an inability to score more runs than the opposition.
A big part of playing sport is learning how to be a good loser and we seem to be nailing that.
Seriously though, these boys will appreciate the wins all the more next year when things start to click.
Footy is in full swing now (no injuries please) but cricket season will be here again before you know it.
So keep it in mind for next summer. I’ve got a good feeling about it.
- Let just have a look at how our individuals performed on page 5.
