Coach of the Crookwell open age soccer team Michael Boulton says it was the lack of a permanent goal keeper for the home team which resulted in a 3-2 loss against Bundanoon on Saturday.

By half time Bundanoon scored two goals as leading scorer of the competition Annie Croker was goal keeper.
Bundanoon was able to keep good possession but by the second half Croker was able to assist two goals and challenge the opposing side.
“Annie was the keeper for the first half and we were a little bit short on forwards. The girls aren’t keen on being a keeper, which will really hamper us this year,” Boulton said.
“In saying that in the second half we put five goals past them and had lots of one-on-one opportunities with the keeper.”
The oldest played on the team is 19, and Boulton says the energy of the team has been a contributing factor to their success this season. The team, which is working on playing a more expansive game, is often up against more experienced teams.
But for Boulton the main problem is the lack of a permanent keeper.
“It does cause problems because we have losses. We probably shouldn’t have lost on the weekend,” he said. “However, I’m confident we will finish in the top four playing like we are.”
The women’s team is set to play the Moss Vale Reds in three weeks, another strong team in the competition following Bundanoon. Boulton also congratulated new player Amy Parry’s improvement: she had never played soccer before.
