Road safety in the federal electorate of Hume, of which Crookwell is a part, will be improved with almost $3.5 million in Black Spot Program funding allocated to seven projects confirmed in this month’s national Budget.

Member for Hume Angus Taylor said the projects were recommended under an independent process and would be delivered during the course of 2017/18.
“Every dollar we invest in safer roads helps to change lives and save lives,” he said.
“The Black Spot Program is a crucial part of the Turnbull Government’s effort to improve the safety and efficiency of roads right around the country.”
The projects are;
- $490,000 for section of Montpelier Drive at The Oaks (200m south of Victoria Park Road to 200m north of Evelyns Range Road).
- $753,125 for section Montpelier Drive at The Oaks (200m south to 420m north of Strathmore Road).
- $695,000 for section of Highland Way at Tallong (from Barbers Creek Road to Bumballa Street).
- $636,500 for section of Remembrance Drive at Razorback (1.5km to 3.3km north east of Governors Lane).
- $486,200 for section of Bundanoon Road at Exeter (150m east to 250m west of Ringwood Road).
- $238,063 for section of Taralga Road at Tarlo (from 2.4km north to 210m south of Chapmans Lane).
- $186,110 for section of Wombeyan Caves Road at Wombeyan Caves (200m east to 1.8km west of Mares Forest Road).
“On average, Black Spot projects reduce fatal and injury crashes by 30 per cent,” Mr Taylor said.
“Residents will recognise the history and notoriety of each of these locations.
Having specialised funding allocated to fix these dangerous spots is great news for the local community and everyone who drives on these sections of roads.”
$684.5 million has been committed to fixing black spots from 2013-14 to 2020-21.
