Garry Kadwell recently hosted an ecotour and potato digging experience on his Rosedale property. Twenty landholders and other excited participants joined Mr Kadwell in a safari-style tour around his property.
The day was filled with talks, walks, food, laughter and even a few wet eyes when Garry started talking about the Upper Lachlan Foundation and how the Crookwell community has slowly been gaining independence and resilience despite everything.
Garry Kadwell is one of those people who just makes you want to stand up for something you believe in - whatever that may be. For many of us, what we wanted was to know how to create a sustainable community where both the young and old can thrive.
So they started sharing ideas. Out of this came ideas to get younger generations to map the landscape with GIS technology' and ideas on how to get people more involved in landcare groups. Other ideas raised were creating funds to support each other through hard times. That was just the beginning.
So keep your eyes and ears out for the next great Eco-tour of Garry's properties, and for other exciting adventures.
Thanks especially to the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife for funding the event, and K2C for coordinating the event.
