On hand to visit Hayes and present the cheque were Bernie Hogan, Barry Jamieson and Don Spackman from the car show.

Matt Hayes, Brad's father, said he was again delighted and thankful to the community for their ongoing support for his son.

Hayes was injured while playing a rugby league game last year, but is now on the road to recovery.

His Devils team mates have been busy winning games, which Brad often watches.

A little update on the youth league side follows.

The Youth league side travelled to Addison Oval on June 17 to take on the North Canberra Bears.

The Crookwell team was a little lethargic at the start and weren’t very convincing in their plays.

The only saving grace was that the Bears were playing much the same style of footy.

The Devils’ first try came after 18 minutes with Billy Cramp passing a lovely ball to Dylan Brown who went over the line untouched. Charlie Dawson converted for the first points of 6-0.

The Bears then scored two tries taking the score to the half-time break at 10-6 to the Bears.

Coach O’Brien went down to Gloria Jeans and got the players ‘double lattes’ for the half time break.

The coffees did the trick and the Crookwell players were more determined in the second half.

A string of tries from Cramp, Croker, O’Brien and Keel with a conversion to Jake Plumb and two conversions to Dawson saw the final score and a win to Crookwell 32-14.

Try highlight of the match: Sam Keel scored an outstanding try by faking a pass and dodging coutless tackle attempts by the Bears, running 75 metres to score under the posts.

This effort saw him receive the player’s player award just ahead of Billy Cramp and Charlie Dawson.

A shout out to the Weatherstone twins that were tireless in attack and defence.

Liam Jones also returned to the paddock after a lengthy layoff with injury, also a standout player.
