Upper Lachlan Shire mayor Brain McCormack said the fund, which provides grants to projects or initiatives that benefit the community within 20 kilometres of the wind farm, will be well received.
“It is wonderful to see our community groups benefit from this funding,” Cr McCormack said.
The Taralga War memorial received the highest sum ($43,700), which will be used for the installation of a heating system.
This was followed by Taralga Cooperative ($20,000), Taralga Bowling Club ($16,380), Golspie Progress Association ($10,000), Taralga Anglican Parish ($9812), Taralga Australia Day Committee ($9250), Taralga AP&H Society ($9250) and the Taralga Community Medical Association ($6200).
Secretary treasurer of the Taralga Memorial Hall, Prue Burfitt, said the grant was welcomed.
“The community as a whole will benefit from the heating,” she said.
“The hall is huge and when we have our art show we have to hire heaters for visitors.”
She said the grant will allow for more money saved on heating and also assist those who plan to use the space.
“We’re absolutely delighted to get that heating funding. The grant were very well spread out across the community,” she said.
The War Memorial now await an official confirmation to proceed to the next process of installation.
The grants were assessed by the Taralga Wind Farm Community Fund Section 355 committee.
A total of seven community organisations shared the total funding of $94,980 for grants last year.
