Crookwell got underway with a slow start with the Bears scoring 30 seconds into the match due to Mitch McGeechan knocking the ball on off the kick-off.
Not only did we let Bears in, we also lost one of our main men, winger Jake Hunter, with a suspected broken fibula.
We started to play footy
Our first try was scored by Isaac Walker after Steve Lightningbolt Cummins weaved his way around players to get out of the in goal and put Isaac screaming down the sideline to score a full field try in the left side corner.
In the 10th minute, the Bears caught the Devils sleeping, putting a grubber through close to the try line for one of them to score.
With the score 4-12, Crookwell scored seven minutes later with Steve Lightningbolt Cummins giving a ball to Benny Shut-the-gate Evans that saw him in the corner for a meat pie.
It was all Crookwell for the rest of the half with Mitchell McGeechan and Jack-Hammer Dawson both crossing the line, giving the Devils an eight-point lead.
The second half wasn’t as quick as the first half with a lot of errors occurring from both sides, slowing play up quite a bit.
Crookwell were first to score with Jayden Young Gun Eddy hitting a hole to score near the post.
Two minutes later, Crookwell got lucky with a well weighted kick from skipper Benny Picker being planted by the Lightningbolt himself before going dead.
Tries did not stop there with Simon Tacklebuster Smith scoring without a hand laid on him to see the scores lie at 36-12.
For the next 11 minutes there were some more errors and not much spark until in the 68th minute the Bears finally crossed the line after some good ball running.
The final score was 36-18: a great display of footy by Crookwell and Bears, which was a lot better contest for Crookwell compared with their last few match-ups.
Hopefully, a few more solid games for the boys in the lead-up to the semis.
This win puts Crookwell three points clear on top of the ladder.

Next week is a bye in all three grades; the following week, Crookwell travels to Bungendore on Saturday, July 29.

YOUTH LEAGUE
After a couple of weeks off from byes, the Crookwell Green Devils Youth League took north Canberra Bears at the Memorial Oval.
Bathed in sunshine, the Devils kicked off a four-run uphill to start the game.
Bears had a strong start, but the Devils took the ball into the Bears’ half with a good forward run, with the Devils leading 6-0.
North Canberra dominated the possession and scored three tries to go to a 16-6 lead.
The Devils were disorganised and clunky in both their attack and defence, and the Bears capitalised, proving to be the better side.
Just before half time, Billy Gamp crossed to make the half time score 16-10 kickiong off the turning stride of the Devils for their second half.
Jayden Grebert and Billy Cremp scored their second try.
Other tries went to to Liam Jones, Jake Plumband and Max O’Brien as the Devils ended with 40-16 win.
Josh Cummins played very well and put in a 40-20 kick, which led to a try for the Devils.
Sam Keel Harrison and Jackson Weatherstone also played very well.
Ben Croker was hard in defence and attack as was Aiden Kelly.
Dylan Brown played well until a torn ligament saw him leave the field.
The Devils will have a bye and will be playing Harden in a fortnight.
