Crookwell started with a sound set of six plays but after the Hawks regained the ball, the Devils found themselves deep in their half again.
A fatal mistake from a scrum saw Harden score and convert to take an early lead 6-0. Crookwell struck back with a chip and chase try from Billy Cramp and Max O’Brien converted to even the score.
Harden was next to score but missed the kick. Not long after, Jaden Vlahogianis scored and evened the scoreline.
Ten minutes later, a good team try to Max O’Brien saw the Devils ahead 14 – 10 but Hawks didn’t wait long to hit the front again with a converted try not long after. It took them into halftime leading 16 – 14.
Coming out after halftime, Crookwell were very confident running downhill with the wind favouring them, but Hawks were first to score and extended their lead 22 – 14.
Both sides were working hard with good defence and hard running.
Crookwell scored another great team try to Jim Toparis and Max O’Brien landed a great goal from the side line. The score was 22-20 to Hawks.
The last five minutes were nail-biting, but Harden scored in the corner, taking the victory 28-26.
