Ban the bag in NSW, a call to the government

The NSW Greens have welcomed the Queensland Government passing legislation last week for a ban on single-use plastic shopping bags.

The ban will be in place mid-next year and the NSW Premier has been encouraged to introduce a similar ban across NSW.

Australians use up to an estimated 4-billion light-weight plastic bags a year.

South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory and the ACT have already banned the bag, with Queensland joining them.
