That familiar saying; Farming is not a job, it’s a way of life. Living in a rural community is not an address, it’s a lifestyle.

We slow down, we work smarter, we know our neighbours, we support our community and we don’t take life too seriously.
This week Upper Lachlan Landcare celebrated our Annual General Meeting. And a celebration it was. We have hosted some informative, relevant and well attended events this year that have helped the rural community identify new emerging weeds, understand their pastures better and improve their grazing management, learn how water moves across the landscape and techniques to armour wash out sites against further erosion, not to mention increase overall hydration of their property.
Upper Lachlan Landcare has also extended its focus to include people.
As one of our members said; caring for the people who care for the land. And the land we care for includes agricultural production properties, lifestyle blocks, public spaces like the banks of Kiamma Creek and your own backyard.
This led us to host our Summer Seminar Series. An opportunity to come together on a warm summer evening, hear an interesting and informative speaker, share a meal, renew acquaintances, meet someone new and have a good night out.
This week we are also hosting our first FIT FARMERS Workshop in Crookwell on Friday, which of course extends beyond farmers to any community member. Again, we will be hosting an inspiring array of speakers.
