I was surprised to learn our current swimming pool has no hot/warm water available for showers; [and] that the hot water taps in the shower area had been removed. Gunning has hot showers available.

Some of the students who attended swimming lessons sponsored by the NSW Department of Education earlier this year had to have their sessions shortened, [with] cold temperature in the swimming pool making it particularly uncomfortable for children.

The ability to concentrate and learn new skills was made difficult, as was the inability to raise their body temperatures with no hot water. 

A heated swimming pool would offer our ageing residents a low impact exercise that could improve their overall fitness, provide socialisation and keep them engaged with the community. Hydrotherapy is another area that should be considered given the increasing number of ULS residents who must attend Goulburn for this service. 

Our current facility has served us well, but is in need of upgrading. A roof to cover the pool, solar panels to capture energy and heat water, timed hot water in the shower area that could be coin operated as phase one would be achievable in a relatively short time frame.

If other smaller communities with a population equal to ours has a heated pool – such as Mt Beauty at the base of the Victorian snowfields – why can't we work toward one for Crookwell?
